To be honest there is no ready-made 3 star formula. It’s a process of correctly doing several basic things according to plan to get an awesome 3 star attack. 3 staring bases is not just picking up certain attack strategies from YouTube.  It’s much more than using certain troop compositions. It’s a mix of understanding your troops strengths,  limitations & behavior, understanding defending base’s strengths & weaknesses, choosing right troop combination for bases and of course hours of practice & concentration. 

Learning 3 Staring Art

A good 3 Star attack is planned on how to deal with the key defense buildings without letting them blow serious damages. These attacks are typically carried out in phases to take out the identified key defense buildings that are most dangerous threat  to the army composition chosen for the defending base. In general a part of army  called Kill-squad is sent to take out some of the critical defenses of the base and to distract other defenses so that the attacker can deploy troops on the busy defenses to snipe them. Serious planning is needed on how to keep troops alive long enough to get the all important 3 Star within time limit.

There are no specific troop combinations for 3 Star attacks. Well planned 3 star attacks have troops customized for that particular base. Troops composition is finalized based on the position of buildings and weaknesses of the defending base.

Note: 
Kill Squad is a group of troops which is deployed at the start of an attack to destroy key buildings and/or kill Heroes so that the defending base can be easily 3 stared.

♦ Identifying the weakness of the Base

Scout the defending base and find the weakness of that base and choose the right attack strategy accordingly.

♦ Planning Attack

After finalizing your attack strategy now you need to plan further to be able to destroy the base completely. In 3 Star attacking, the Town Hall is a mere structure like all other buildings so no need to give extra importance to it  unless your clan needs to secure a 2 star on that particular base for war win.

Important points to consider while planning –

  • How to destroy key defenses like the Air Defenses for Air Attack or the Double Giant Bombs for Hog attack or X-Bow or Infarno Tower or Eagal Artillery in general.
  • How to deal with King and Queen.
    For some troops like Witches and Valks, planning of how to deal with King and Queen is not that important.

♦ Troops Deployment Timing

Deployment of troops is the most vital part of 3 staring bases. Do not deploy all the troops at once, deploy them in phases. Understanding when to deploy which troops is very very important. Generally few troops are deployed at first to create a funnel for Kill-squad so that they go where you want them to go according to your attack plan. After proper funnel is created Kill-squad & Heroes are deployed to take out desired key defenses, trigger Traps and to distract other defenses. Supporting troops are surgically deployed to take out defenses that are targeting Kill-squad so that your Kill-squad survive for longer time and you get more time to snipe more busy defenses. And lastly clean up troops are deployed to finish it off in style. To avoid time fail, it’s better to deploy clean up troops on non defensive buildings in areas that become defenseless.

♦ Concentration

Performing a successful 3 star attack is more stressful than doing spam attacks. Full concentration is needed during the attack and slight mistake can derail an awesome 3 star attack and make it a failed 1 star attack.

Real 3 Star attacking is an art that only masters of the game can accomplish. It can’t be learned by reading step by step guide. This article is only showing you the thought process of a pro 3 star attacker. How he attacks with proper planning and techniques unlike a noob player who brings almost same army composition for each bases, drops all of his troops at the beginning and prays to the god for a 3 star . 

You can’t become a pro war attacker overnight. Do the following things to master the game.
> Watch your failed attack and try to find out what went wrong and why. 
> Watch attack replays for good attackers of your clan and see You Tube videos to take ideas.
> Ask questions. Try to understand how and why of a successful attack. Don’t just be a copy cat.
> Take help of experienced clan members.
> Try your ideas on Friendly challenges.
